ITU Women's Studies Center in Science, Engineering and Technology

Istanbul Technical University Women's Studies Center in Science, Engineering and Technology (ITU BMT KAUM) is an interdisciplinary research, education, and application center that prioritizes gender equality in science, engineering, and technology fields and supports women to take a strong and effective place in academic, professional, and social spheres.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
       
  • to support equal opportunities for men and women
  •    
  • to increase the visibility of women's studies
  •    
  • to contribute to social/academic life
  •    
  • to increase social awareness
  •    
  • to develop gender-based databases and indicators
 

Our Center was established with the approval of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey dated
November 4, 2009.

There are 102
Women's Research Centers in Turkey, and 26
in Istanbul.

Our Center stands out among the existing
37 research centers in the university
with its inclusive role
prioritizing gender.

ITU Gender Equality Plan (GEP)

Our University has prepared the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) for the period covering 2021-2026 with the decision of the ITU Senate. The GEP is an eligibility criterion for all public bodies, higher education institutions, and research organizations from EU Member States and associated countries.
