In cooperation with Istanbul Technical University, The University of Manchester and Offshore Wind Energy Association (DÜRED), the "3D Printing for Women, Wind and Wealth (3Dfor3W)" event was held at ITU Ayazağa Campus on April 13, 2026.
ITU Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics faculty member Prof. Dr. The event started with the opening speech of Halit S. Türkmen, Dr. Oğuzcan İnal (İTÜ), Dr. Akın Ataş (The University of Manchester), Prof. Dr. Paul Mativenga (The University of Manchester), Nihat Arı (EnerjiSA), Hazal Erdinç Canbay (Info TRON 3D Technologies), Dr. Together with Ozan Can Zehni (Eskişehir Technical University) and Yunus Emre Bozkurt (İTÜ), our ITU BMT KAUM Central Board Member Prof. Dr. Nihan Yıldırım took part as a speaker.
Within the scope of the program, detailed information was given about 3D printing-based innovative repair of recyclable wind turbine blades, the potential of composite repair patches of turbine blades, the production diversity of wind power plants and their investments in renewable resources, additive manufacturing technologies and their widespread industrial use, difficulties and damage mechanisms in FRP composites, and the fatigue behavior of 3D printable BN/PEEK/PEI blend composites. Additionally, while gender equality and sustainability targets in Türkiye's wind energy sector are discussed; On the other hand, the topics of diversity, inclusion and intersectionality were discussed within the scope of the Manchester University Gender Equality Plan (GEP) and the Athena Swan Charter.
