We held our panel on "Intergenerational Scientific Women in Academia"

As ITU Research and Application Center for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (ITU BMT KAUM), we organized our panel “Intergenerational Women in Science in Academia” in collaboration with Turkish Academic Women's Association (TÜRKKAB) on Wednesday, March 19 at ITU SDKM.

In this inspiring panel, the stories of the first female academics of our country and the women scientists who followed in their footsteps were shared.

🎤 Moderated by Prof. Dr. Nilgun Okay, our panel started with the opening speeches of ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and TÜRKKAB President Prof. Dr. Mualla Uydu Yücel.

🔹 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Zeren introduced the book “100 Pearl Pens”, which she edited.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Ayşe Sema Kubat talked about three generations at ITU through her mother Melahat Topaloğlu, Turkey's first female urban planner, and her daughter Çağla Kubat.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Hatice Ayataç shared her experiences with her PhD teacher and ITU's first female dean Prof. Dr. Hande Suher.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Fatma Dönmez Azizoğlu (PhD) shared Prof. Dr. Perihan Velioğlu's achievements in the field of nursing.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Leyla Karahan shared with us the professional contributions of Turkologist Prof. Dr. Zeynep Korkmaz.
