May 4, 2014: Girls on the Field 2014

In the 'Girls on the Field' event, organized for the second time this year with the cooperation of Actifit and Istanbul Champions, women took the field to remind them that football has a meaning other than winning and losing. The women, who joined forces and formed teams, not only enjoyed the green field, but also drew attention to social problems.

In the project, which aims for women to discover their own strengths, the women who struggled against their opponents both had fun and experienced the excitement of being a football player, of which they were only spectators.

Bringing together 500 women who have never played football in their lives, the tournament was held on April 27 and May 3-4 at the ITU Stadium. The players of the teams consisting of at least ten people were composed of company employees and women who participated in the tournament independently. Women who wanted to show the power of the spirit of being a team through football took part in the tournament, in which a team of ITU personnel took part.

In the tournament that lidyana.com won in the corporate category and we came to Ashşk in the mix category, lidyana.com's cup was won by ITU BMT-KAUM Director Prof. Dr. Fatma Arslan gave. Banners with social content such as "No to Violence Against Women", "We Are Women, We Are In The Field Now", "Early Diagnosis Saves Lives" and "Nature Cannot Be Recycled" drew attention in the tournament.

Karnaval.com was the media sponsor of the "Girls on the Field" event, which was the social responsibility sponsor of ITU BMT-KAUM and Community Volunteers Foundation and the ITU Physical Education Department was the venue sponsor. Bringing the team spirit to the field, the women also signed a big social responsibility project that will make the children smile. As part of the Community Volunteers Foundation's 'Let's Move Me' project, the income from the tournament will be used to introduce children to sports at Eyüp Merkez Secondary School. A part of the income will be donated to the Istanbul Technical University Women's Studies Center to provide educational scholarships for female students.
