Historic Achievement by Turkish Women Athletes at the Paralympic Games!
PWomen athletes won 1 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Turkey achieved a great success at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Turkey participated in the games with 94 athletes, the most crowded delegation in its history, with a total of 4,400 athletes and won 28 medals, including 6 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze. Our female athletes in the Turkish Paralympic team made history by breaking records with their outstanding performance. Female Paralympic athletes competing in different branches made Turkey proud with their medals.
Our women athletes had the opportunity to prove their success in many branches from athletics to swimming, weightlifting to table tennis. Competing in Para Archery, Öznur Cüre Girdi won the gold medal. Öznur Cüre Girdi, who reached over 700 in the qualifying round by maintaining her superiority in every match, also became our national athlete who broke the compound women's world record. She also showed outstanding success in the qualifying rounds. Our national athletes who won silver medals: Aysel Önder in para athletics, Kübra Korkut in para table tennis, Aysel Özgan in para shooting, Besra Duman in para weightlifting and Gamze Gürdal in para taekwondo. Our national athletes who won bronze medals were M. Betül Çavdar in para taekwondo, Nazmiye Muratlı in para weightlifting, Ebru Acer in para table tennis, Sevilay Öztürk in para swimming, F. Damla Altın in para athletics, Ecem Taşın Çavdar, Cahide Eke and Nazan Akın Güneş in para judo.
This year's Paralympic Games have showcased the strength and determination of women athletes to the world. Thanks to the dedication and efforts of these athletes, Turkey reached its highest-ever medal count at the Paralympic Games. This achievement has once again proven the power of women in sports and served as an inspiration for future generations.
