As the ITU Women's Studies Center in Science, Engineering and Technology (ITU BMT KAUM),
we held our panel titled "Intergenerational Women Scientists in Academia," organized in cooperation with the
Turkish Association of University Women (TURKKAB), on Wednesday, March 19 at ITU SDKM.
In this inspiring panel, the stories of our country's first female academics and the women scientists
who followed in their footsteps were shared.
🎤 Our panel, moderated by Prof. Dr. Nilgun Okay, began with the opening speeches of
our ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and TURKKAB President Prof. Dr. Mualla Uydu Yucel.
🔹 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Zeren introduced the book "100 İnci Kalem," for which she served as editor.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Ayse Sema Kubat described three generations at ITU through her mother Melahat Topaloglu,
Turkey's first female urban planner, and her daughter Cagla Kubat.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Hatice Ayatac shared her experiences with her doctoral supervisor and ITU's first female dean, Prof. Dr. Hande Suher.
🔹 Dr. Fatma Donmez Azizoglu conveyed the achievements of Prof. Dr. Perihan Velioglu in the field of nursing.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Leyla Karahan shared with us the professional contributions of Turkologist Prof. Dr. Zeynep Korkmaz.
